October 2022 New and Full Moon: Full Moon in Aries and Solar Eclipse in Scorpio



October brings an Aries full moon and our second solar eclipse for 2022, this time in Scorpio! What does it do for us?

What is solar eclipse?

A new moon occurs when the transiting (moving) Sun and Moon are in the same position in the zodiac (called a conjunction). The new moon is associated with the beginning, has high energy and is enthusiastic. A solar eclipse occurs when the new moons are within 18 1/2 degrees of the lunar nodes (the point in the Moon’s orbit where the Moon crosses the ecliptic).

What is a full moon?

A full moon occurs when the transiting (moving) Sun and Moon are in exactly opposite positions in the zodiac (called opposites). The full moons are related to the end, the culmination, and are emotional energy.

Full Moon in Aries: October 9, 2022 (4:55 PM ET/1:55 PM PT)

Aries Purnima is a full moon that comes with a lot of energy. Aries is a high-energy zodiac sign, so we can feel inspired to take action based on what we feel. The full moon is emotional, and those feelings can drive us to act. We have to make sure that we don’t get impulsive about it, otherwise we might run into something that we might regret later.

Aries is the first sign and is associated with new beginnings, while the full moon is associated with the end, so we can see the beginning of the end of something or the end of the beginning of something.

Our second solar eclipse for 2022 falls in Scorpio at the end of October. In this eclipse set we have not yet had a solar eclipse of Scorpio, only in Taurus, and the lunar eclipse we had this year was in Scorpio. Now that Scorpio is getting solar eclipse energy, we can focus on changing for the better in big, drastic ways. This could have long-term implications for what we are dealing with for years to come. It could be the beginning, it could be the first step, and we could totally improve.

Scorpio is also a sign of depth, so we can do more research, want to solve problems, and get below the surface of topics, projects, and people with a Scorpio solar eclipse. We can keep searching until we uncover even more. It can shed light on areas, topics, events, or people that we previously missed, and it can bring new information that helps with new plans.
