Love Horoscope for the week of September 12

we are currently with Mercury retrograde, as the messenger of the zodiac travels backward through the initial degrees of Libra. If you haven’t yet reached the point that many of us traditionally do—that is, screaming and tearing your hair out when Mercury is in retrograde—this may actually be the week you start doing it. We do.

But is it really all Mercury’s fault? When it comes to relationships, we naturally look to Venus for its sweetness and lightness. Venus is transiting Virgo – which is a gentle enough place – but is often considered debilitating. And it certainly doesn’t help that Virgo is ruled by Mercury and that Mercury, as discussed earlier, is headed the wrong way.

When it comes to the more sexual side of relationships, that’s where Mars comes in. Yes, Mars is still in Gemini. Yes, Mars is going to be around for a very long time and yes, that means Mars is also ruled by that wacky, chaotic Mercury.

Maybe what you’re interested in is a committed partnership. For that, we look at Jupiter and… oh, darn, Jupiter is retrograde, very. Maybe we want to create some structure and order in our life? This would include seeing Saturn. Yes, Saturn is retrograde, very. And it is still within the square range of retrograde Uranus.

So: If you’re particularly afraid of being regressive, you might think this is the week to just hide under your bed and do nothing and talk to someone.

The good news, though: There’s a hidden variable in this mess that can actually make it quite beneficial. Although both Mercury and Venus are retrograde, Mercury is in the sign ruled by Venus… and Venus is in the sign ruled by Mercury. Put it together and you have what is called a “mutual welcome”. This means that even under relatively funky aspects, Mercury and Venus can really lend a hand to each other. So at this point, it might be an excellent idea to open up communication and make peace with a friend or loved one, or open up your laptop and join a dating site.

There are some very valuable opportunities hidden in all this mess. Or, you know, go ahead and blame everything for Mercury retrograde anyway. that’s what I’m doing. If any of you are watching, I’ll be hiding under the bed this week.

Mercury has entered its shadow zone on the 25th of Virgo – to look back and complete our transformation into Libra and Virgo

The shadow region is defined by the period where a planet turns retrograde, and where it goes directly after the retrograde period. In this case, Mercury turns retrograde on 9th September into Libra.
