At the time of Amavasya everything is dark. You only see the crescent moon swirl a few days after the exact moment of the new moon.

Traditionally, you set your intentions at the time of the new moon. Then, you make a wish when you first see the crescent moon in the night sky.

At the exact time of the new moon of this month, the Sun and the Moon are together in one of the signs of the Earth in the zodiac 4 degree Virgo.

Virgo is the star sign of order and analysis, list-making and strategy, resourcefulness and measured behavior. It is associated with work and routine, lifestyle and health, self-care and service to others.

Hence, it is an excellent new moon to start a new habit or start any activity that feeds you, nourishes you, bases you and strengthens you.

Mars factor

This new moon is not acting alone, however, it creates a dynamic square aspect to Mars. 4° Gemini, The working planet Mars entered communication Gemini a week ago and this is the first major aspect that makes Mars, a square aspect to the Sun (and Moon) in Virgo.

This is important because Mars is going to stay in Gemini for the next seven months. Pay attention to where you are moving, where you want to speak, where you are getting emotional and/or angry. What initiative do you want to take on the new moon that will enable your voice and allow you to speak?

Being Mars ruled (Scorpio Sun, Aries Ascendant), I feel like I am getting angry about the cost of living crisis and the outrageous (corrupt) profits being made by utility companies in this country. It has been in the news a lot over the past week and so on social media – the media sign of Gemini – and it will only continue.

Energy prices are projected to skyrocket this winter, plunging many into poverty, making completely unfair and unjust decisions about what to eat or stay warm!

Water companies are pumping sewage into our rivers and seas, blaming poor infrastructure for it, while also declaring profits that have not only doubled and tripled in recent years but have skyrocketed. . Still, there is talk of the government bailing them out as they are largely in debt!

And, I recently saw a video showing how some European countries are taking huge profits from running our railways which helps them keep travel prices low for their people. Is privatization working? Right now, it may not seem so, but until the government gets tough and starts enforcing laws that benefit the people, not the fat CEOs, not much will change.

rant over! I know I am not alone, although there are a lot of new initiatives emerging. Here are just three I’ve heard about recently: Enough is enough, we own it and don’t pay. There is no doubt that in the coming months more grassroots organizations will urge people to take action.

Mercury has entered its shadow zone on the 25th of Virgo – to look back and complete our transformation into Libra and Virgo
