Here are some astrology highlights for August. Mars is making many aspects this month, which can bring sharp, prickly or depressing quality in life. You may be forced to be clear on your passions, your enthusiasm, and what it’s worth to be assertive.

August 18th also brings a sweet aspect between Venus in Leo and Jupiter in Aries. It can bring balance to any stress and help you find an uplifting opportunity or experience.

The full moon in Aquarius on August 11th can bring a shock, surprise, or unexpected development to an aspect of Uranus in Taurus. Saturn’s proximity to the full moon will bring a needed reality check or invite you to choose a cautious plan.

The new moon in Virgo in late August is influenced by a tight square from Mars in Gemini, which brings tension and the qualities of pushing or breaking. Mars will enter Gemini on August 20, where it will remain for seven months, which is an unusually long time due to its upcoming retrograde.

Mercury will spend most of August in Virgo from August 4 to 25. Mercury in Virgo is a great circle in which to organize and hold on to communication and important conversations.

Mercury has entered its shadow zone on the 25th of Virgo – to look back and complete our transformation into Libra and Virgo

The shadow region is defined by the period where a planet turns retrograde, and where it goes directly after the retrograde period. In this case, Mercury turns retrograde on 9th September into Libra. It will retrograde back to the 25th of Virgo, where it stabilizes directly on 2nd October, the birthdays of Mahatma Gandhi and Groucho Marx.
