Astrology of the Transit Chiron Connects the Lunar Nodes

In astrology, Chiron is said to be the healer of wounds, which means it governs our wounds and healing. It shows us where we can have big wounds, but also how we can heal a lot.

Lunar nodes are points in the Moon’s orbit where the Moon crosses the ecliptic. There are two lunar nodes, a north node and a south node, and they are exactly opposite each other.

The North Node connects to our potential, our purpose, and our greatest fulfillment in life, but it is also new, unfamiliar, uncomfortable, and something we have to learn.

The South Node connects to our past, our baggage, emotional crutches that we return to during stressful and troubled times, but are comfortable and familiar so we keep going back and have to learn to let go of the crutches.

P.S. Make sure you sign up for the monthly worksheet so you can keep track of the planets (including Chiron!) each month.

Transit Chiron connects to the North Node:

So what happens when the transiting Chiron connects one of your lunar nodes? We’ll start with the North Node. When the transiting Chiron is connected to your natal North Node, it can be an excellent time for healing and personal growth. Not only that, you can benefit from it in many ways, and the more you heal and grow, the more you can feel that you are on the right track and living your best life.

The point, of course, is that it can be very uncomfortable at first. You can avoid it completely because of the restlessness. It can shed light on issues you don’t want to face, don’t feel ready to tackle. This can scare you.

You have to push through it. At some point, the restlessness and anxiety and fear go away as you become more comfortable and experience some healing and growth. You can keep moving forward, and embrace more development.

The Chiron can connect to a quieter personal power within, the kind of power that comes from feeling outside, louder, or more whole and more of oneself than others. As you heal and grow, you gain more of that calming power, and you can keep on exploring more.

The issues you need to work on will depend on the sign of your Natal North Node and the location of the house, as well as any planets in your North Node sign. Currently, Chiron is in Aries until 2027, so you may experience this aspect at some point in the next 5 years unless your North Node is early in Aries.

Aries Northern Nodes need to learn to be independent and autonomous, assertive and take initiative, and embrace their true face and inner fire. Any issues around these things can be worked out with the Chiron in Aries that connects to your North Node. If you’ve rejected who you are, if you’re too dependent on others, if you’re being timid and procrastinating, it’s time to address it.

Transit Chiron connects to the South Node:

Now join the South Node of your birth to transit Chiron. During this transit, this is also a great period for healing, although you may focus more on the past than the future. You may feel the weight of your baggage from your early life, past life, or karma, but you may become so used to it that you try to force yourself to keep going with it. You may reach a point where you can no longer live, a breaking point where, you have to say, enough.

We become too content with the South Node, the way things are, even if they are dire, so moving Chiron to the South Node takes away all the bad things you’re used to and accepted right now. Do but shouldn’t. Just because it’s always been like this or the way it has been for a long time, doesn’t mean you have to resign yourself to being that way if it’s not healthy for you.

However this can be difficult to do. Like the North Node, this transit can also have fear associated with it. With Chiron at the North Node, it has a greater fear of the unknown, while Chiron at the South Node has a greater fear of letting go. You may think you don’t know who you are or what your purpose is without this stuff, these issues, this person, this situation. You are very tied up and you don’t want to let it go, but Chiron is giving you a way.

You have to face the issues, face the baggage and be ready to let it go. It can be a huge process, but it can lead to deep, deep changes. It may not be super obvious from the outside, on the outside, but within, you can change in a big way. There’s the ability for you to unload that stuff so you can move more freely without any weight.

The issues you need to work on will depend on the South Node sign of your birth and the location of the house, as well as any planets in your South Node zodiac sign. As mentioned, Chiron is currently in Aries until 2027, so you may experience this aspect at some point in the next 5 years unless your South Node is early in Aries.

Aries South Nodes have a habit of doing their thing, going their own way and relying on themselves for everything. This means that you have to learn how to ask for help and trust others in this life. You can put too much on yourself, and end up in bad situations because you don’t trust anyone enough to help you. You’ve probably been burned before, and fear again. The stuff you may need to address may be centered around this.
