New Moon in Leo: Days of Light and Darkness

n the season of Leo, we celebrate the magic of creation and the wonders of the soul. It is the Sun, the ruler of Leo, who itself makes life possible. And so, in honor of this, we set about creating what we can from what we have and know, which is what lies in the oven of Cancer.

Baby creatures are the purest manifestation of Leo New Moon magic. They descend into our world as blank slates, and with every word and gesture we tell them what we think. We imagine, well or not, that we are calling their true spirits by the names we give them and the stories we project on them.

When our young neighbors welcomed their first child, they even kept the baby’s name a secret from their families before birth. I thought that very intelligent. It doesn’t make sense for dozens of people to project a story on this little man before he even met his parents.

Whether we call the human child the body, the pet the lovely home, the song the voice, or the story pen, We do not create the soul – only the forms by which it can express itself.

E welcomed two little cats into our home about two years ago. Toby was small, flirtatious and simple, no more than two months old, a dazzling, playful sun prince who continues to bring pure joy and fearlessness to the table. Violet was a few months older, sweet, affectionate and delightful. But his fickleness and territoriality were the marks of a dicey former life. We have spent endless, gentle hours with her, reassuring her that she is loved and safe. Since she moved in with us, she has become more calm, more confident and very playful; But Violet may always be a little shadowy soul, a bundle of pure love that was exposed to darkness too soon.

Each year, on Singh Amavasya, we are called to sow the seeds of ecstatic love and joy. Those seeds can take the form of temporary steps towards romance, or starting a band or a new business, or even welcoming little creatures – the heart appears – into our homes. . But we have to remember that the new moon is a dark, uncertain phase, Even when he is burning in the glowing fire of Leo. When you sow the seeds of joy, you never know exactly what will come out of them. They may fail to germinate at all. And if they do so, even if they flourish, it is certain that they will also know dark days. On a flood day or a dry, hot summer day. Days of despair, disagreement, disillusionment, sometimes even death.

The brighter the sun shines, the heavier the shadow.

When a couple marries, the ceremony usually invokes the darkness of new beginnings – for better or worse, rich or poor, until death separates us. On such a glorious, happy, sunny day, two people in their twenties can easily agree to these terms, as darkness in your twenties seems impossibly distant. But if the couple is older, we are impressed by their bravery. The darker parts of life’s journey are weighing on them, yet they insist on surrendering themselves to light and love.

The dark side of our feline adventure is that my husband and I are in our 70s and 60s. Given that our last cats were 17 years old, we brought these two home knowing that there was a good chance they could outlive one or both of us. May Violet and Toby be my last cats, my last chance to pour such love and devotion into growing happy, well-adjusted creatures. We thought long and hard about fulfilling this commitment.

But in the end he could not be of any help. There was never a real chance of “no”. Because when you have the seeds of love, you have no choice but to plant them, take care of them and watch them grow.

I found with past pet peeves that the first month or two set the stage for everything to come after that. This formula seems to work well on anything your heart embraces this Leo new moon: give it a beautiful start. Let the sun shine on it as much as you can. Make it the center of your solar system. Then, when the time is right, step back into the shadows and watch it shine with its blissful light.
