July 17, 2022: Venus enters Cancer – Ruby Slipper Astrology
Venus enters Cancer at 9:32 a.m. EDT. Relationships, values and wealth are filtered through the lens of the waters of core needs, family and childhood.
Wants to be incredibly personal and this transit can trigger memories of past love or family dynamics. This energy can be very necessary as Cancer is the sign of the child – watch out for the longings that are inherent in what you didn’t get when you were young. It is very helpful to be aware of those moments when you expect the other person to give you what you want, not to communicate and take responsibility for your own happiness.
But this energy can also be incredibly giving because Cancer is the sign of the mother – you can be inspired to look after someone with food and nutrition. You can tap into the heightened sensitivity of this transcendence and instinctively feel what someone wants—sometimes you just give in because another person needs comfort or a hug.
It’s time to evaluate what you want/attract/self based on your basic safety and comfort. Are you comfortable in your relationship? Do you feel secure with the person you are attracted to? Does that source of income meet your needs? And needed?
Emphasizing today’s water pull we have the Sun and Mercury in Cancer, Neptune Rx in Pisces (25 deg) and the Moon with Neptune (and trine to the Sun). This is the part of the lunar cycle known as the waning trine – encourages sharing of energy and how accurate is this with Cancer? This is a highly receptive, harmonious moment when others will sympathize with what you are saying/thinking and Neptune breaks the boundaries for some truly magical moments. Look for Unconditional Acceptance – Sharing your message can feel like a warm embrace. For some, there can be an almost psychic connection with wordless understanding.
And finally we have the opposition between the harvest-goddess Ceres in Cancer and Pluto Rx (27 degrees) in Capricorn. The Ceres/Pluto myth activates with this end of a cycle. The abduction of Ceres’ daughter by Pluto (and the subsequent mourning of Ceres and the withering of the crops) marks the point in the cycle of life where “death” occurs. Darkness is a natural part of the cycle – you cannot have endless life and abundance. Nothing lasts forever, nothing lasts forever. Note that this could easily be a symbolic death as the dynamics of the relationship change.
Ceres as the Great Mother can stir up apparent dynamics with her mother, including issues of power and loss. Nutrition can sometimes be done in manipulative ways. Control as a way to delay the end will result in stunted growth and unhealthy engagement.
Ceres’ daughter was eventually allowed to spend part of the year with her mother, so we see the wheel continue to spin and new life takes place. But right now, something has reached the point of completion and the waning trine (with Neptune) may enable gentle, healing release. Let it end Share your feelings with someone you trust or be open to someone who needs to share this death process. Let it go and make room for something new.
This point in the cycle may be associated with the events of January 13, 2020 (the last Ceres/Pluto conjunction).
