June 21, 2022: Cancer Season — Ruby Slipper Astrology
The Sun enters Cancer and the solstice begins at 5:13 a.m. EDT. The longest day (in the Northern Hemisphere) is the peak of light and the beginning of summer. Summer encourages you to slow down which gives you time to appreciate what is blooming in your life (or your garden). you don’t say anything? I’ll bet that’s not true—everyone has something (one, little thing) they can point to and declare “I cherished it.”
It’s the shortest day in the Southern Hemisphere, but even if the seasons change, both involve pausing and delving into your roots.
This sign is about mother, child, family and your basic needs. As energy peaks, it may be a good time to find out where you feel safe. May Cancer season encourage you to build your nest and take care of yourself/your family. This energy also draws your attention to how you feel at home.
Cancer acts on instinct – some people/situations feel safe and others do not. Difficulties arise when the tendency to not be safe is overlooked. The final lesson of Cancer season is to be your own parent (which can mean breaking the patterns set by real parents). And, don’t let others control your mood—you’re allowed to be angry, sad, anxious, needy. You are allowed to be happy when others are not. The people who tell you to “calm down/control yourself” are not your people.
Venus in Taurus puts Pluto Rx in Capricorn (28 deg) which is a good confirmation of what you want/love. A deeper commitment (to a relationship, to your body, to your personal finances) comes naturally. This deepening can see you more determined to nurture what is best for you or to move forward with a tangible change in the above areas. Power comes from knowing what you want and pushing some inner limits to develop it. Again, this should go smoothly- there’s no conflict.
Here are the aspects that the Sun will make up:
June 28: Amavasya (7 degrees Cancer)
July 13: Full Moon (21 degrees Capricorn)
