The Sun-Mercury conjunction (when Mercury is retrograde) marks the beginning of a new Mercury cycle. This Mercury chakra is at 0° Gemini so it is especially powerful.

0° of any zodiac sign is a very powerful degree, as it contains a raw, new beginning energy. And 0° Gemini Perhaps the most important degree for Mercury as Mercury rules Gemini.

Mercury new moon – time to start a new project

Just as the Moon has cycles, Mercury also has cycles. Every year we have about 3 Mercury Chakras. A The Mercury cycle lasts for about 116 days.

Four Phases of the Mercury Chakra

There are four Mercury “phases” in the Mercury cycle:

Phase I – Observation and Insight: May 21, 2022 – June 3, 2022

Phase I begins with Mercury’s inferior conjunction to the Sun and lasts until Mercury becomes erect

In this phase, Mercury receives a clear objective due to its encounter with the Sun. There may be sudden clarity in this phase. You may come up with new ideas or find new ways of doing things.

And although Phase I isn’t necessarily a time to take action (you’ll want to wait for Phase II, when Mercury goes straight) it is a good time to do preparation work. For example if you are planning to write an eBook, this is a great time to get inspired, brainstorm ideas and decide on a topic.

Phase II – Prototyping and Testing: June 4, 2022 – July 16, 2022

Mercury is now at its highest – this is when we are able to do intense mental work. This is a good phase to work towards completing the initiative you started in the first phase.

Phase II is a great time to get creative and test different elements of your plan. Put on your creator cap and try different methods. If we take the example of our eBook writing, it is time to dump the ideas on paper by hand and do most of the writing.

Phase III – Bringing to Life: July 17, 2022 – September 9, 2022

From exalted conjunction of Mercury to retrograde

The superior conjunction of Mercury with the Sun marks the stage of culmination. Take what you started in Step I and “prototype” and “test” in Step II. Your project can now finally take shape and materialise.

Mercury is now receiving a “reality probe” from the Sun, which acts like a curator and synthesizes the fine bits and pieces produced in previous stages.

Now is the time to “go live” with your project. In our writing example, you can now edit and publish your book.

Phase IV – Analysis: September 10, 2022 – September 22, 2022

From the retrograde phase of Mercury to the inferior conjunction of Mercury with the Sun

The fourth phase of Mercury is reflective and introspective.

This last phase is a good time to “analyze” what you did in the first three phases and see how the result can lead to even better results starting in the next Mercury cycle.

Your eBook is now published – it’s time to review what worked and what didn’t in preparation for your next writing project.

The Mercury cycle lasts for about 4 months. It is well known that the ideal time frame for a project is 3 to 4 months. This is enough time to delve deeper into a topic, do your research, test and build, and then analyze your output.

Anything that goes beyond 4 months loses momentum or becomes a point 2 version of a previous project.

You want to keep your projects within this time frame. Do you have any goals that take more than 4 months to complete? Big projects seem overwhelming and that’s why we don’t complete them. The solution is to break your project into mini-projects of 4 months.

The 3-Step Process of Working with the Mercury Chakra

Take your time to focus on the project you want to start. Follow these 3 steps to identify your project and plan it according to the Mercury cycle:

1) Consider your current priorities. Meeting these priorities should not require a long time. It will take more than 4 months to get a master’s degree, build a house or restore your health.

Likewise, your mercury project will need enough time so that you don’t just finish it in a few days – writing an article, or learning to cook a new recipe, for example.

You want to identify something in between, a project you can do complete in 3 to 4 months,

Examples of Mercury projects I use in my business are launching a podcast, writing an astrology course, or creating a marketing funnel. Examples of Mercury projects from the past are preparing a presentation, hiring an employee or training for a run.

2) Look in your natal chart for further guidance In which house does Mercury-Sun conjunction come in your horoscope?

FOr for example, if it falls in your second house, you may want to start a project to generate a new source of income, if it falls in your fourth house, you may want to do home improvements. If it is in your 6th house then you can start a new diet etc. if you wish.

3) After identifying your project – Divide it into 4 different phases according to the 4 phases of the Mercury cycle.

Try to stick to the timeline. You want to spend 2 weeks for Phase I and Phase IV, and about 5 weeks for Phase II and Phase III.

Mercury has entered its shadow zone on the 25th of Virgo – to look back and complete our transformation into Libra and Virgo
