Wimbledon Tennis 2022 – Sally Kirkman Astrologer
Wimbledon Astrology
Mercury is the important planet in Wimbledon – the planet that rules the hands and arms and is an important factor in the astrology charts of tennis players. Gemini is the star sign associated with tennis. I wrote about this in 2015. You can read the full article here: Why Geminis Make the Best Tennis Players.
Nadal and Djokovic are both Sun Geminis – see dates below. Other than this, iga switecSun Gemini is also the winner of the women’s tournament at the French Open. b. 31 May 2001,
Mercury is the ruling planet of Gemini and is important during this Wimbledon tournament as it rules the Virgo Ascendant, an important angle in the birth chart, and Gemini Midheaven, the success angle in the birth chart. Also, Mercury is strong in its ruler Gemini as the competition begins.
As the tournament begins, the Moon in Gemini is moving away from Mercury in the tenth house. This is an intriguing symbol as it may suggest that the Moon is running away from the favourite. Or, maybe it’s confirming favorites? The Moon, Mercury and Venus in Gemini at the top of the chart can all see Geminis doing well. It can be as simple as that.
The next aspect of the Moon to Saturn in Aquarius is a strong triple aspect that often suggests experience or an older player. Mercury is the ruler of the tournament chart and will also make Saturn a strong trine aspect.
Lovely Venus is in Gemini and in mid-sky – will this be a strong tournament for women? Venus is going to make a helpful sextile aspect to the lucky Jupiter, again favorable.
Jupiter is slowing to prepare for retrograde in late July and won’t get far away 7 mesh, Jupiter turns retrograde 8 mesh, These can be of significant degree to note in the players chart.
players
I am currently on vacation in Greece and Wimbledon is underway. I’ll look at astrology for players upon their return and post info when I’m ready. It is always a labor of love to chart but posting this before the tournament starts will give other astrologers a chance to add their comments. see you soon
UPDATE: I’m writing from Greece. world no. 1 Medvedev is banned from the tournament because he is Russian – the sport is becoming increasingly political. Medvedev’s date of birth is February 11, 1996, there is no date of birth. She has two planets that represent the active rules (Saturn) and control (Pluto) in her chart. They are both retrograde, with Saturn in its Sun/Mars conjunction in Aquarius and Pluto with its Mercury in Capricorn. You would expect one of the combinations to be linked to their career. Both the planets suggest no instead of yes.
With Federer not playing, Zverev is also out which means the Big Two, Djokovic and Nadal are the No. 1 and No. 2 seeds respectively and may not make it to the final.
Novak Djokovic B. 22 May 1987, at 11.25 hrs, Belgrade, Yugoslavia no. 1 seed – Sun Gemini
Djokovic is the current champion. He was knocked out in the quarterfinals of the French Open which was obviously going to be a trouble for him. His astrology seemed favorable as Jupiter is now in Aries and Djokovic has the Moon, North Node and Jupiter in Aries. Jupiter in Aries is now active again and close to its North Node, a destiny point in astrology. In theory, a good sign.
Nevertheless, astrology tells that something is happening behind the scenes that is bothering her and affecting her tennis. His career planet is Mars in Cancer, caught in a T-square with the Moon in Aries and Neptune in Capricorn in the hidden 12th house. Moon rules the seventh house of their partnership. The only accurate aspect of Jupiter during Wimbledon is a square aspect of Neptune that doesn’t sound like a dream come true.
In this a test Venus-Saturn progress and eclipses in Taurus/Scorpio and Uranus in Taurus trigger the foundation of his horoscope this year and it is not a static picture. He has to use his experience and willpower to win.
He begins the tournament with the Moon and Mercury in Gemini on his natal Mercury, which is a good minor factor. Also, the chart of the tournament points to an older, experienced player doing well – Shani – and it doesn’t show a shock but let’s see.
Rafael Nadal B. 3 June 1986, 7.10 pm, Manecour, Spain No. 2 seeds – Sun Gemini
Nadal has had an incredible start to the year by winning the Australian Open and the French Open, which means he is leading the way in Grand Slam victories at age 22 – an incredible feat. This is Nadal’s Jupiter Return Year that happens once every 12 years when you do well often. He has Jupiter in Pisces and the return was accurate on March 28.
They also have some powerful Pluto transits – Pluto quincunx Mercury in Gemini, their career planet, and Pluto sesquiquadrates their sun Gemini. They are difficult aspects but Pluto co-rules your Scorpio ascendant. And, he’s winning, but he has injections in his leg, so you have to ask at what cost – it’s not easy.
Nadal is born on the Sun/Chiron conjunction and has suffered his ‘wound’ for a few years, apparently from 2005. In the tournament chart the Moon/Mercury comes close to his natal Chiron, so his ankle may be an issue. In addition, the difficult South Node is on its Ascendant on July 4. The Ascendant is often about the physical body.
Like Djokovic, the Taurus/Scorpio eclipses fall on an important axis of his chart, but that is the individual ascendant/descendant axis. This is where you’d expect a change in Nadal’s life and his wife pregnant with their first child. Mars co-rules the 5th house of Nadal’s Ascendant and his children.
Romantic Neptune is making a helpful sextile aspect to your Mars for an extended time at the end of the year. If all goes well then it seems like a dream come true. I wonder if he’ll put his personal life first and retire, especially if his ankle problems don’t improve.
rest of the players
With such a short birth time available, the astrological prediction is not satisfactory. We can only comment if there is a major planetary influence and even then we don’t know if it is about their career as you need the time of birth to reveal the houses – areas of life – of the horoscope . If anything happens in a day or two I’ll take a brief look.
As regular readers of Tennis/Astrology predictions know, I too am considering retiring from this side of my astrology. With such a short birth time of new players in the public domain after Wimbledon it will take me a long time to continue.
