Scorpio Lunar Eclipse: Snake in the Grass, Dragon in the Heart
M
y Mother, a strong optimistic Sun in Taurus man, was fond of saying that it is the bad times in life that make us appreciate the good ones. This is a good theory; But a certain amount of Moon/Pluto, Neptune in Scorpio skepticism quickly persuaded me that bad times can actually tarnish the good ones—by making us distrustful, upset, and sorry.
Consider Adam and Eve.
They are naked and happy in the Garden of Eden. Everything is beautiful and calm. Laissez Les Bon Temps Roulette!
enter a snake – A nasty snake in the grass – which tempts them with the forbidden fruit. Adam and Eve succumb to temptation, which leads to their expulsion from the Garden, an awareness of their nakedness, and the introduction of humanity to the concepts of sin and death (and essentially, “Project Runway”).
By comparison, the rest of his life was probably going to be somewhat disappointing.
Who – or what – is your serpent?
We are born Adam or Eve, naked and usually very happy, I imagine, although my memory of the event is sketchy. There’s that unpleasant business of getting through the birth canal, but quickly you’re drawn to someone soft, friendly and given something to drink. You are in Eden.
And, being Eden, life will introduce you to a snake in the grass at some point. Something that tempts you with a luscious and forbidden treasure. Something that gives you the feeling that you are naked, possibly sinners, and that the garden of beauty and love and innocence that you called home is lost to you forever.
For many girls, this serpent assumes the form of an attractive, clever and clever young man. He knows how to lead you into temptation and engineer your downfall.
For example, according to evolutionary biologist and Harvard professor Steven Pinker,
“The most desirable man in the eyes of many women is the ‘tough-tender’—good for him, aggressive with everyone else.”
It’s a very irresistible apple when a good looking, venomous snake shows you its sweet side. You feel incredibly special. You will do anything to ensure a steady supply of these apples!
Before you know what hit you, your family is threatening to evict you, your friends won’t return your calls, and you have fangs all over your body.
This is a bad snake. Some of us are still very young when he comes to the scene and walks away with our innocence.
However, nastier snakes are, and sometimes they come when we’re young. Snakes that tempt us, boys and girls alike, with toys or candy or games, and then handle us in a way that makes us feel dirty. Snakes that rustle in the grass are hardly detectable until they suddenly jump out of a bush and bite you.
And next thing you know, you’ve been kicked out of the garden. The world is no longer so beautiful or gentle, not so safe or secure. Your eyes have been opened to your nakedness and vulnerability. You have been tricked and you have been fooled. You have been told that your natural state is an abomination, and told it so convincingly that you believe it.
Lunar Eclipse in Scorpio: A Serpent in Your Garden
Tea
His full moon (May 15, 2022, 9:14 p.m. Pacific time) is a total lunar eclipse in Scorpio. There is nothing intrinsically wrong with Scorpio; All signs have a balance of bright and dark. Scorpio is strong, loyal and perceptive. but it’s also a sign Secrets, Temptations and Secrets – and those are the apples our snakes like to use to trap us.
So this is an eclipse that presents you with the choice of either eating the forbidden fruit, or with the consequences of already eating it. Sleeping with a married lover, or feeling married with a lover you slept with. Lying to a friend about something that really matters, or perhaps detecting such lies.
There is an opportunity in this eclipse, however, It is characteristic of eclipses in general and Scorpio eclipses in particular. This is your chance to transform yourself into something more formidable than a cunning serpent: a fire-breathing dragon, Dragons are intelligent, magical and supernaturally skilled. And here’s the good part: Legend has it that they taught humans to speak.
Scorpio’s greatest gift is the ability to see what others can’t see, and the bravery to speak up about it. Scorpio energy in its lowest manifestation is a cunning snake in the grass, but Scorpio energy in its highest manifestation is a dragon.
Other eclipses as recently as May 1984, November 1993, May 2003 and November 2012 had fallen to close to this degree. Maybe then you have met a serpent; Presumably, it helped the Engineer fall from grace, your removal from the Garden. (Where might you stumble in your serpent? Your chart’s house where 25ΒΊ18′ Scorpio falls. If you’re not sure how to find it, this blog post should help.)
Did you show that serpent how the dragon behaves when threatened? Did you yell and hiss to kick him out? Did you breathe fire and call the National Enquirer to whistle on that serpent’s ass? (Note to self for further research: Do snakes have donkeys?)
Well, here’s another chance. Because a snake is rustling in the grass in your garden, Something that wishes you ill, that wishes you were to fail, or just any free-floating feeling of malice that takes an impersonal pleasure in letting a good person down.
The task of this lunar eclipse is to see that serpent down., To summon every unstoppable, sensible, life-affirming impulse you have. To summon the dragon that you carry right behind your breastbone – the one that breathes fire, straight from your heart.
