Scorpio Full Moon Eclipse: Meet Katrina – Jessica Shepherd

…his stitched mouth? You all were not allowed to say that.

…that upside-down nose? That nose knows … how to smell a rat.

When I first brought this Katrina doll to my house, my husband said it scared him. He wanted me to take it away. He didn’t want him to sit there like this in the corner, staring at her, with those big eyes, looking at everything but saying nothing. All-seeing and all-knowing.

I took her to a better vantage point so she could see more of her, no less.

There is a Katrina in all of us. Katrina exists because there are parts of our own experience that once didn’t feel safe enough to feel, say, see, accept. She is hurt due to omission, neglect. He has been told that his experience doesn’t matter. She has been taught that what she feels, sees, knows is true… is not. Katrina has all that we have been denied. Injustice has been done to him.

She may look like a little doll, very small, but she is a big ideal.

She possesses incredible power, an even greater fear for “just a doll”.

(Perhaps, as all dolls suggest to me, the more we reduce something important to us, making it smaller, the bigger it is in the shadows.)

Of all the scary dolls I’ve known, I remember many from my grandmother’s basement—Katrina is the first one I’ve given my due. I have offered him/herself a central seat in our house. I know better than to hide it, so as not to scare others. I see him as a symbol of what I have endured; What I once denied in myself, now I embrace with love.

This weekend’s Scorpio/Taurus lunar eclipse may bring some skeletons out of your wardrobe. Security issues are highlighted, and include the wounds of abandonment, rejection, betrayal. It’s all UP for the treatment of integration.

Remember, the ego just wants to feel safe, good and loved.

So, if you get triggered this week, keep your little Katrina close. Give him a more central place in your home, relationships, life. Ask him what he needs.

… Maybe he needs to tell you a story, a story from a time when you were hurt, so that you can connect the dots and separate what was then from now.

… Maybe he needs your approval, of a truth.

… Chances are, he needs more compassion and understanding from you, than himself, towards you.

Bring closer to what was once rejected, abandoned or rejected. Untold, unseen, uninvited, terrifying, terrifying… Invite to the table, or to the chair.

In this way the scary fear loses its strength and comes into the right shape.
